Meet lovable Mee Mee (officially Megan) who arrived at Green Acres Farm Sanctuary in August 2022. She’s the only duckling that survived a classroom hatching project, a practice that we do not condone. When the person that provided the fertility eggs and had promised to take all that hatched refused to take Mee Mee back the teacher took her home and tried their very best to help Mee with her mobility problems but soon realized she needed more care. This was a learning experience for the teacher and after pledging to not hatch eggs in the classroom again we agreed to take in Mee Mee. This sweet duckling’s body is crooked, and her wings are worn from trying to compensate for the bad leg. It is unknown if Mee Mee can make a full recovery, but we are hoping for some improvement that will help her get around easier.
In July of 2022, we welcomed Phinneus and welcomed back Nick and Jenny, three special needs ducks. Nick and Jenny were surrendered to us when they were days old ducklings because both are visually impaired. Once stable and growing, Nick and Jenny were transferred to Wildwood Farm Sanctuary where they already had a setup for disabled duck Phinneus. We were then asked by Wildwood to bring all three ducks to Green Acres to insure their long-term care. Because of their special needs, we will have to plan for and raise funds to create their very own safe space. Nick, Jenny, and Phinneus are the best of friends who comfort and help each other in so many ways. We are honored, with your help, to be able to provide the special care they need.
