These four Indian Runner ducks were ordered as a joke from a hatchery and shipped at less than a day old. The recipient, who had no idea the ducklings were being mailed to her, took good care of them while trying desperately to find them a home. When she ran out of options we were glad to be able to provide a safe place for the ducklings.

Huge Success

The Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale in Portland was a huge success raising a total of $2,382. Thanks you to the organizers, bakers and all who indulged their sweet tooth. Green Acres Farm Sanctuary and all the animals greatly appreciate the support.

OUR NEWEST HORSE

Meet Sunny a sweet 35 year old horse. Due to his advanced age Sunny has difficulties chewing which requires special feed and an uneven gait which had made him unrideable. Sunny was almost put down but instead he will live out his years at Green Acres. Sunny will be seen by the vet, an equine dentist and the farrier.

Creative Science School

A big thank you to the students from Creative Science School for their hard work cleaning the barn and helping to name our eight foster puppies. They also toured the sanctuary as part of their humane education through HEART of Portland. Green Acres Farm Sanctuary always welcomes the opportunity to share our mission with others.

A great group of students from Meek ProTech High School visited the sanctuary as part of their humane education through HEART of Portland. The animals and students enjoyed their time together. Green Acres Farm Sanctuary always welcomes the opportunity to educate others about farmed animals.

NINE LIVES SAVED

Ginger and her eight puppies were rescued from an overcrowded high kill shelter in Southern California and transported to SafeHaven Humane Society by S.T.A.R.T. Shelter Transport Animal Rescue Team. Now these nine precious lives are being fostered here at Green Acres Farm Sanctuary until they are ready for adoption. Sometimes it takes many groups working together traveling great distances along with your support to make rescues like this one possible.

WOW…Josh and Stephanie of The (vegan) Caterer presented Green Acres Farm Sanctuary with a check for $3362.00 the proceeds from A Night For The Animals. We also recieved an additional $100.00 from Merit Badge. Thank you again to the business who donated prizes, volunteers and everyone who came to make this such a successful event.

These six beautiful hens arrived a few days ago and are settling into their new flock. In less than a week we have taken in ten birds in need. You can help us continue our work by making a donation or sponsoring an animal.

Safe and Sound

We recently got a call about a duck in the parking lot and garden center at a Fred Meyer store in Portland. Domestic ducks can not fly and lack survival skills. Now this sweet Muscovy is settling in at Green Acres Farm Sanctuary. Thanks to the caller and employee who kept her safe until we arrived. It’s because of donations that we are able to respond to calls like this and help those in need.
