UNNATURALLY WOOLLY

In the wild sheep would grow just enough wool to protect themselves from the cold and than naturally shed their wool never needing human intervention. Unfortunately today’s domesticated sheep have been selectively bred by humans to continuously produce wool that grows longer faster in order to increase profits. This unnatural overload of wool can cause heat exhaustion, maggot infestation and the extra weight can decrease the sheep’s mobility. So every spring we have to shear our sheep to keep them comfortable in the hotter months.

OUR TINY NEW ARRIVALS

Unfit to sell these four chicks were given to Green Acres Farm Sanctuary by a local feed store. At just a few days old these tiny little chicks were being pecked and injured. We will provide them a safe place and medical care in hopes that all four will thrive.

SIX MORE LIVES SAVED

Our newest foster puppies are six week old female lab/pit mix that were rescued from an over crowed high kill shelter by Shelter Transport Animal Rescue Team. These adorable puppies will be fostered here at Green Acres Farm Sanctuary until they are ready to return to SafeHaven Humane Society and find their forever homes.
